Layout Sketch

Build the master layout — side and top profiles that set every critical drivetrain dimension in one place.

Two Layout Profiles

Sketch the drivetrain from the side and the top.

  • Side: height, tube placement (1.75 in off the ground for the modules), wheel clearance.
  • Top: the footprint and module mounting offsets.
  • Together they pin every critical dimension.

Make It Parametric

Reference dimensions between sketches instead of repeating them.

  • Set the side length equal to the layout tube length.
  • Use joint origins to link the sketch planes.
  • Circular Pattern the corner geometry to all four corners.

Key idea

Capture the essential dimensions once, centrally.

That's what makes the whole model flex.

Recap

LAYOUT SKETCH

  • Side + top master profiles
  • Modules sit 1.75 in off the ground
  • Reference between sketches; pattern corners
  • Big dimensions only — keep it lean
