Build a two-stage telescoping climber, mostly from COTS.
- An inner tube slides inside an outer tube.
- A gearbox winds a rope to extend it.
- Lean on pre-engineered parts — build season is short.

Use COTS where it doesn't matter so you can custom-design where it does.
Don't fabricate what you can buy.
