Gear + Belt Gearbox

Combine a gear stage and a belt stage, on real frame.

  • Mix everything: tubes, plates, gussets, gears, and belts.
  • Two stages: a gear reduction and a belt reduction.
  • Drop an origin reference first for the belt math.

Frame It

Start with the structure.

  • Sketch and extrude tube profiles with 1/8 in assembly gaps.
  • Tubify into 1x1 thin-wall (1/16 in) tube.
  • Add an L-shaped gusset.

The Gearbox Layout

Lay out both stages in one sketch.

  • 60T and 20T gears at 2 in and 4.5 in; 12T and 36T pulleys (5 mm).
  • Motor circle 2.5 in; use AltSkripts C-C Distance for the belt.
  • Plate: bearing holes, 1.5 in motor boss, bolt circle, spacer holes.

Build & Assemble

Make the round parts, then put it together.

  • 3/8 in spacers and the belt via AltSkripts; shafts via Shaft Endings.
  • Optionally Part Lighten the plates.
  • Assemble pulleys, belt, gears, motor, bolts, rivets from FRC-COTS.
