Drivetrain Frame

Build the Whole Frame

Sketch the full drivetrain footprint in one sketch, then extrude and Tube Convert.

  • Create a new document and create a new sketch
  • Sketch the outer rails and the cross beams together.
  • Use Mirror and Rectangular pattern to draw one line and copy it across all corners
Key idea

Model a quarter, mirror the rest.

If you're drawing both sides by hand, stop.

EXTRUDE OUT TUBES

Now that you've sketched the outer frame, extrude it, tube conver it and add cross rails yourself

  • Cross rails are two box tubings that go across the drivetrain to give it more rigidity and support
  • Go back into your sketch and sketch out two more box tubes the are 7 inch away from the sides

FINISHING UP

Before you call it done, verify the frame is right.

  • No tubes incorrectly fused together.
  • Use the origin and top plane to check alignment.
  • Tubes line up with the swerve module placements.
